Professional title and professional regulations

Professional title: Podiatrist (state-recognised), awarded in the Federal Republic of Germany; sectoral alternative practitioner (Heilpraktikerin) for podiatry.
Competent supervisory authority: the local public health office (Gesundheitsamt) responsible for the practice location.
In particular, the German Podiatrists Act (Podologengesetz, PodG), the Training and Examination Regulations for Podiatrists (Podologen-Ausbildungs- und Prüfungsverordnung, PodAPrV) and the German Non-Medical Practitioners Act (Heilpraktikergesetz, HeilprG) apply. These regulations can be viewed at gesetze-im-internet.de (German only).

Licensing and practice opening

The regulatory licences, permits and practice registration numbers separately required for the independent practice of podiatry have been applied for. The reopening of the podiatry practice is planned for 30 November 2026.
