04 Aftereffects

A feeling of warmth, tingling, freshness: many people notice the effect immediately after their first session.

Good to know

The difference lies in the eddy-current cooling (Cyclon): it distributes the cold, dry air evenly around the body. The cold penetrates about 1 mm into the skin and stimulates the nerve endings – the vagus nerve along the cervical spine is also positively stimulated.

The stimulus triggers the release of adrenaline, the happiness hormone dopamine, and corticoids that support recovery. Blood pressure, blood sugar, cholesterol and triglycerides can gradually normalise. Many guests feel noticeably better after just the first session – a tingling on the skin, a feeling of warmth, a genuine mood booster.

Topics

What guests use the cold for

Weight loss & metabolism

The cold stimulus boosts energy turnover and can support the metabolism.

Sport & recovery

Faster recovery after exertion, less muscle soreness, better training quality.

Pain & joints

Dry cold can relieve inflammation, tension and joint complaints.

Skin & anti-ageing

Circulation is stimulated – many guests report a firmer, fresher-looking complexion.

Sleep & stress

Adrenaline, dopamine and stimulation of the vagus nerve act as a natural mood booster.

Procedure & safety

Personal briefing before every session, supervised application, clear guidance on contraindications.

Please note: we cannot make any promises of a cure – every body reacts differently to cold therapy. It also depends on regular repetition of at least 2–3 times per week over a longer period.

Guides

Cryotherapy in Focus

For anyone who wants to explore whole-body cryotherapy in more depth: here are the key points of the individual guides summarised – from ice baths and detox to chronic complaints and anti-ageing.

The difference between ice bathing and a cryotherapy chamber

Wet cold in an ice bath and dry cold at up to -110°C work differently – in effort, cold stimulus and everyday practicality.

  • Water conducts heat away very quickly: an ice bath feels shock-like, intense and is often experienced as painful.
  • In the cryotherapy chamber the air is dry, and the cold reaches the skin's surface in a controlled and noticeably more pleasant way.
  • A chamber session takes only about 3 minutes – no changing at a lake, no long warming-up period.
  • Temperature and duration are exactly reproducible and professionally supervised – this increases safety and consistency.
  • Neither method replaces medical treatment; caution is advised for people with cardiovascular disease.

Detox and cold therapy

Fatigue, dull skin and mental fog spark a desire to 'detox'. This guide clarifies what the body really achieves.

  • There is no such thing as 'toxins' in medical terms – the liver, kidneys, gut, lungs and skin detoxify the body independently.
  • Persistent exhaustion should be medically investigated rather than masked with cures.
  • The foundation remains lifestyle: sleep, water, exercise, little alcohol, a balanced diet.
  • Cold applications can stimulate circulation, metabolic activity and alertness, and support a fresh start.
  • Effects are individual – no promises of a cure; check contraindications beforehand.

Chronic pain and cryotherapy

When pain becomes a constant companion, cold can be a supportive element within a broader concept.

  • Chronic means: the pain has lasted longer than three to six months and has lost its warning function.
  • A medical diagnosis and search for the cause should always come first.
  • Multimodal approaches are established: physiotherapy, exercise, medication and psychological support.
  • The cold stimulus can dampen pain transmission and create the mobility needed for exercise therapy.
  • Not suitable for, among others, untreated high blood pressure, severe heart disease and cold allergy.

Wrinkles, skin ageing and whole-body cryotherapy

Skin ageing is a natural process – what remains influenceable is mainly what acts on the skin from outside.

  • Collagen and elastin production declines over the years, and skin loses firmness and moisture.
  • UV radiation, smoking, sugar, stress and lack of sleep significantly accelerate ageing.
  • Sun protection, good skincare and a healthy lifestyle remain the basis; dermatological procedures add targeted support.
  • The cold stimulus boosts circulation – after the session skin often looks fresher and firmer.
  • Cryotherapy is cosmetic support within an overall concept, not a wrinkle treatment.

Chronic inflammation and cryo

Silent inflammation shows up as stiffness, fatigue and concentration problems – often over months.

  • Unlike acute inflammation, the chronic form smoulders unnoticed in the background.
  • Triggers include persistent stress, lack of exercise, being overweight, sleep deprivation and diet.
  • Medical clarification including lab values provides clarity on the cause.
  • Cold can dampen inflammation-promoting processes and support recovery and sleep quality.
  • Only sensible as one element alongside exercise, diet and stress management – with attention to contraindications.
